Description:Enoch Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) was one of Stoke-on-Trent’s greatest 'products'. An author and playwright he wrote many novels based on his hometown of Hanley and Stoke-on-Trent. Among his famous novels are Hannah of the Five Towns, The Card and A Man from the North.
He preferred to work in solitude and spent many hours in quiet rooms alone awaiting inspiration. This room, in a country house in Essex, was his favourite in England.
