Date:February 1964

Description:The view along the Strand towards the railway bridge and Times Square, with the Crown Hotel building behind, taken from close to the corner of Heathcote Road. On the left hand edge is the entrance to Longton Central Hall (Methodist Central Hall) opposite Transport Lane (formerly Market Lane). On the right hand side, just beyond the lane, is Longton Public Market with its French Renaissance style entrance.

Coming towards the camera is a Ford Anglia estate car followed by a 1950s Riley convertible. Since the photograph was taken, The Strand has been made one way for traffic.
