Description:The old Longton Police Station on Sutherland Road. this photograph is taken looking towards the junction with Anchor Road and Market Street. The Heathcote Hotel is the building with the round tower on the corner of Anchor Road. Just beyond the Police Station is the Anchor China Works with its line of stack ovens. Just to the right of the ovens is the top of the tower of St John's Church, now demolished.

The Police Station was originally brewery offices and built in 1905. This building was demolished in 1992 and a new Police Station built on the same site. The date stones on the gables have Staffordshire knot decoration. The building just this side of the station is an electricity sub station and still stands. However the Anchor China Works has been demolished.
