Description:Market Street in Longton in the 1960s. thye photograph was taken from the Sutherland Road/Anchor Road junction looking north west towards Market Square. The shop in the centre is Leeke's grocers, with Martin's Dry Cleaners this side. Between is the entrance to Cyples Lane. On the other side of Leeke's is the entrance to Noons Court and Boot's the Chemist, who have had a shop on this site (30 Market Street) since the 1900s. Next door is F W Woolworths, part of a chain that sold everything from toys to sweets to clothes to hardware. The shops closed in 2008.

The lorry outside Woolworths belongs to James Kent porcelain and earthenware manufacturer at the Old Foley Pottery in King Street. The shops this side of Woolworths have mostly been demolished and this is now one of the entrances to the Exchange Shopping Centre.
