Description:Trentham mausoleum alongside Stone Road (A34) opposite the original main entrance to Trentham Park. Built for the Leveson-Gower family (Marquises of Stafford and later Dukes of Sutherland) in 1807-1808, the monolithic structure has echoes of Egypt. It was designed by Charles Tatham who also designed the Park entrance gates.

Built of ashlar blocks is the only Grade I listed building in the city of Stoke on Trent. The interior was lined with marble and there was space for over 40 catacombs. Only seven were ever used. Above is an upper storey with four louvred windows. The mausoleum ceased to be used when the family left Trentham in the 1900s and the seven bodies from the vaults were reburied in the surrounding cemetery.

To the right in the foreground is the memorial to the men of Trentham who died in the First and Second World Wars
