Description:Looking southwards along Oxford Street from the junction with Frederick Avenue (running across the photograph). Oxford Street leads down to Honeywall. The line of Oxford Street was laid out by the 1890s although it didn't extend south to Honeywall (then called Prince's Street). It extended northwards (behind the camera) to meet with today's Quarry Avenue and Watson street. Also it wasn't continually built up. At this time it didn't have housing along its entire length. In the photograph, the houses nearest the camera on both sides of the road date from 1900 to 1924. The terraces further down are, however, 19th century. The area in the distance is the south of Stoke and Boothen with Mount Pleasant beyond.
