Description:West End recreation grounds was at the end of Bakewell Street (formerly Turner Street) in Penkhull. It was administered by the city Parks Department and had tennis courts, a bowling green, children's playround, a pavilion and community centre. This photograph is looking east towards Boothen, with the chimney of the Michelin tyre factory in the background.
The area is now Bakewell Street Park.
