Description:This photograph was taken looking west from the Josiah Wedgwood Street railway bridge along the Loop Line between Hanley and Etruria. This section of the Loop Line was opened in the early 1860s. The road bridge in the centre carried Etruria Road over the line. The large building just to the right of this bridge is the Rose & Crown public house. It still stands on the Etruria Road roundabout, but has changed use. On the extreme right hand edge are the houses in Bateman Place, now replaced by light industry.
In the distance are the furnaces of Shelton Steel Works. The area between is now occupied by Etruria Road, a cinema and the main entrance to Festival Park. The track has been removed, but there is walkway following the route between Potteries Way and Etruria Road.
