Description:This photograph was taken from the Etruria Road (formerly Lord Street) railway bridge and shows the Potteries Loop Line to Hanley going off past Shelton Steel works. The main railway line leads off to the left and Etruria Station is just off the right edge of the photograph with the steps of the signal box just visible. On the cottages overlooking the junction is the street sign "West View".
The junction dates from the 1870s when the Loop Line was built. Passenger services ceased in 1964 and by 1968, the track had been lifted. Today, the central area of the photograph is occupied by the Northern Area Custody Facility of Staffordshire Police. Beyond is part of the Festival Park development.
