Description:This photograph is of the old Victoria earthenware works in what was known as Lane Delph, now Fenton. This is the south side of the works, looking from China Street and Meakins Row, on a snowy, overcast day. The derelict factory had been the site of earthenware and porcelain manufacture since the end of the 18th Century. Owners and occupiers included the Mason family (who later produced ironstone), Samuel Ginder, the Wathen family, James Reeves. It became the premises of the Victoria Porcelain Co and later the Victoria and Trentham Pottery until closing in 1960. The works, and the three bottle ovens, have been demolished and the site is now commerce and light industry. Notice the old street gas lamp standard.
The white car in the foreground is a four door Ford Consul Classic. Made only between 1961 and 1963, the two door version was known as the Capri and was in production slightly longer.
