Description:The Royal Hotel stood at 20 Liverpool Road (renamed Westport Road), next door to the Ryal or Hill Pottery. The top of a bottle oven is just peeking over the roof of the hotel. Parker's Ales supplied beer for pubs and hotels all around the Potteries from their brewery in Burslem.
The shop next door at No. 18, Myatts, had been a sweet shop since the 1900s. The pottery and these buildings have been replaced with houses and flats.
About half a mile from this point, the similarly named Royal Oak Hotel was at the Sytch end of Liverpool Road. Closed, the building became part of Steventon's Royal Pottery.
