Description:The photograph was taken from close to the corner of King William Street and Scotia Road, looking southwards. In the centre are the level crossing gates allowing the Chatterley Whitfield mineral railway lines to cross the road. On either side were the extensive Pinnox Sidings. On the right is the wall of Tunstall Saw Mills (operated by White & Taylor) which fronted onto Scotia Road and Pinnox Street.
Just beyond the level crossing is the Globe Pottery. The works manufactured earthenware and hotel ware as part of the Grindley Hotel ware Co. Since the 1950s the works has been part of the Dudson Group and a modern factory producing Duraline occupies the site today.
