Description:The camera is looking north along Hugh Bourne Street (formerly Bourne Street) in Brindley Ford. Finch Street (formerly Chapel Street) comes in from the left in the middle of the photograph and Terrance Street (formerly Albert Street) is at the far end.
The terraced houses date from the middle of the 19th century, built to house miners and iron workers. There is evidence of the effect of subsidence on the tilting house on the right. Taken just before demolition, the corner shop is already boarded up. The street no longer exists but is part of a modern housing development.
Named after Hugh Bourne, one of the founders of Primitive Methodism, there used to be a chapel opposite the corner with Finch Street (Chapel Street).
