Date:June 1964

Description:Looking north east along Ford Green Road from near the junction with Chetwynd Street (on the right). Ford Green station, on the Biddulph Vallley branch, is just to the left of the level crossing gates and footbridge. The original Ford Green station opened in 1864 and became Ford Green and Smallthorne in 1887. Passenger services finished in 1927 although the station remained open for excursion trains until the station was closed in 1964. The line of the railway is now a path and cycleway. To the left it leads to Whitfield Valley Nature Reserve.

On the corner of Chetwynd Street was The Railway public house. On the horizon, just to the right of the telegraph pole is the tower of St Bartholomew's Church in Norton in the Moors.

The two cars are Ford Anglia saloons. The registration letters EH and VT show they were registered in Stoke on Trent. Notice the Draper's shop on the left also sold cigarettes.
