Description:The photograph shows the front and east side of Ford Green Hall, a 17th century timber framed farmhouse with a brick wing, now a museum. The house was built in 1624 for the Ford family, local farmers, who occupied the building for nearly 200 years. The family supported the King in the English Civil War and the house was reputedly raided and searched by Roundhead troopers. The family left the building in the early 19th century after the male line ended, the land was sold off and the house divided into four cottages. The property fell into decline. Surrounding the hall are period gardens. Today the house is run by a charitable trust which maintains the furniture, ceramics and textiles of a 17th century yeoman farmer's dwelling.
