Description:A view south along Mayne Street from close to its junction with Church Lane. Immediately to the right is the junction with Stone Road (A34). The houses and cottages on the left still stand although the short terrace towards the middle of the photograph with the corner shop has been demolished. The Hovis sign belongs to the Steam Bakery, and next door was S Goodwin's butchers (demolished). Opposite and on the corner was C P Goodwin, a newsagent with a frontage onto Stone Road. On the extreme left, just out of shot is the Staffordshire Knot public house. The building is now a restaurant.
