Description:In the foreground is the Herbert Minton building, formerly Stoke School of Science and Art, later just School of Art. The building dates from around 1853 and was erected as a monument to the potter Herbert Minton. A red brick building with white stone bands, it is in an Italian Gothic style. During the 1950s, it became particularly important as the school concentrated on lithographic printing processes for the ceramics industry. It is now used as offices.
Further up London Road beyond the art school is London House, an office block with shops on the ground floor built on the site of the Minton factory.
