Description:The photograph shows Stafford Street (renamed The Strand in the 1950s) in 1910. The camera is looking north towards the Market Place and railway bridge. To the left is the old Longton Wesleyan Chapel and to the right, the tower of Longton Market.

The Wesleyan Chapel was built in 1842 seated 500 people. Next door is the shop of Thomas Mottershead, a hosier and shipping agent. Market Lane is off to the right, immediately opposite Mottershead's. In the top right of the photograph is the sign of the pawnbroker (three brass balls) Charles Bradley who also sold clothes. Down the middle of the road is the faint outline of the tram lines that ran down Stafford Street to Trentham Road.
