Description:This is a view of the bottle ovens and chimney of Ashworth's works from the rear entrance in Morley Street. George Ashworth & Bros manufactured ironstone, earthenware and ivory ware at the Broad Street Works in Hanley. They produced the famous Mason's Ironstone china and became part of the Waterford Wedgwood group in 1973. The works in Broad Street survived until 1998 when production moved to Wedgwood's Barlaston factory, after over 250 years production on the Hanley site. The land was cleared in 1999, part becoming the site of a supermarket in 2010. Only the eastern end of Morley Street remains.
