Date:1900 - 1924 (c.)

Description:Once a colour works, this two-storey irregular building now houses Royal Doulton's Nile Street factory.

The ground floor porch has a decorative chafered stone surround and large datestone step dating from around 1919.

The windows still have their original wooden sills, whilst the decorated porch toplight includes a triangular pediment-style wooden moulding.

The first floor has a large decorated concrete name panel that reads "Johnson Matthey & Co. Ltd."

There is a chimney on the north side of the central block. Its tapered stack has a concrete top course and a square stack.

At the time of revising this caption, the Nile Street factory was scheduled to close in May 2005.
