Description:Pearlware dark blue printed bowl, teacup and saucer, transfer printed with illustration: 'Washington Standing at His Tomb, Scroll in Hand'. Height of bowl 80mm. George Washington (1732-1799) was the first President of the United States. He was commander-in-chief of the American army and a hero of the people during the Revolutionary war with Great Britain. The bowl, teacup and saucer were excavated at St. Paul's Church, Burslem in 1974.
