Description:Jasper plaque, 510mm x 450mm. This plaque is blue jasper with 'The Descent from the Cross' in white relief. The frame has been decorated with acanthus leaves and scroll borders in white relief. The plaque is signed on the front 'ENOCH WOOD SCULPSIT AD1777'. The subject was modelled by Enoch Wood at the age of eighteen, but it was not produced by him in jasper until the early 19th century.
