Description:Wade Ceramics Ltd began making small porcelain 'Whimsies' figures in 1954. This is a later example of Wade’s ‘Crocodile’, manufactured as part of a series of 32 miniature animals commissioned for Brooke Bond Foods Limited of Canada to promote the sale of their Rose Red Tea. The figures were given away free with different sized boxes of teabags between 1968 and 1973.

They were made at George Wade & Sons Ltd.'s Manchester Pottery, Greenhead Street, Burslem.
