Date:1796

Description:In 1795, plans were underway to introduce a mail coach service that would serve the Potteries.

There was one problem; the coach needed roads of a higher standard than were available.

Enoch Wood, who was a local parish official (churchwarden) as well as a successful businessman, was asked to report on the state of the roads
