Description:Hand-made pottery-making tool for smoothing pressed articles.

It was used to smooth dish bases.

The tool is flat with a slightly raised handle and was made from part of a plate. It is around 16cm in length.

Engraved on the tool is the maker's name and date.

This object is now part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
