Description:Pottery maker's smoothing tool.

This hand-made flat tool, with a raised handle, is fashioned from part of a ceramic plate.

Roughly 17cm in length.

The maker and user's name is inscribed on the tool. It reads;

S Dale 1951

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Tools Collection.

This object is now part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
