Description:Engraver's magnifying glass.

The glass is circular with rough chipped edges. It has a diameter of 2.5cm.

It was used in the engraving process to magnify close and detailed work.

It is possible that this was previously set in a stand to leave both of the engraver's hands free.

Part of a set of tools belonging to local engraver, Mr Harry S Millward of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Tools Collection.

This object is now part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
