Description:Copper plate engraving with a small hole punched at either end.

The plate is engraved on both sides and is about 10cm in length.

This side shows various doodles, writings and test marks.

It was cut from a larger plate and used by the engraver to test gravers and punches.

The plate bears the intials HM, as it once belonged to local engraver, Mr Harry S Millward of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Tools Collection.

This object is now part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
