Description:Flower maker's tea strainer.

Used in 'open work' to make the centre of ceramic flowers.

A pad of clay would be pressed onto the mesh, creating an imprint similar to that of a flower centre.

This was not a specialist tool.

It is a great example of a domestic item put to use by an inventive potter.

Roughly 19cm in length.

Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Tools Collection.

This object is now part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
