Description:Pottery factory interior showing paintresses and enamellers at work inside a decorating workshop.

The women are seated at long benches and are wearing aprons.

Decorated ewers and basins can be seen in the foreground.

In the background are two men, possibly the decorating manager and a travelling salesman viewing the work.

Enamelling

Enamelling is the process of painting on an underglaze pattern outline. This outline would have been previously applied to the ware as a transfer.
