Description:Pottery factory interior with a portrait of a pottery worker named Mr. W Baggaley. Mr. W Baggaley was a china caster at Gladstone China, Uttoxeter Road, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. He appears to be hand casting teapots and cream jugs. The lower shelf of the bench contains moulds. Liquid clay known as slip would be poured into the moulds using the slip jug, which can be seen on the bench behind him. Mr. Baggaley died of silicosis in 1952. The factory ceased production in the early 1970s but after restoration re-opened as Gladstone Pottery Museum. Taken from the Gladstone Pottery Museum Photographic Collection. This photograph is part of the collections at Stoke-on-Trent Museums.
