Description:John was born 6th October 1909 in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. He married Elleanor Annie Thorley, pictured with two of their sons, on 26th September 1942. John and Elleanor had six children.
John enlisted into the Royal Army Service Corps. On 8th August 1940 and was posted to 5 Training Battalion (Drivers) in Sutton-in-Ashfield for training. He was discharged on 27th May 1941 due to ill health. He died on 2nd May 1973. John was awarded The War Medal 1939-1945.
