Date:1900 - 1910 (c.)

Description:Postcard containing an image of pottery packers in a pot bank yard.

On the reverse of the post card it is stated that the image was taken in 1875. However, this date is too early. Blake was not born until the 1870s. It is estimated that this image was taken right about the turn of the century. The early dating was possibly designed to give the postcard added nostalgic appeal.

The same image appears in a slide show entitled "Staffordshire Pottery" elsewhere in the collection. The slide has a corresponding reader card that reads;

"Packing in drums and casks. Modern methods used more especially for export."

Note: At certain magnifications a patterning effect will appear on this image due the nature of the original.
