Description:Sun Street Stadium was between Clough Street, Mount Pleasant and Sun Street in Shelton. The stadium was built in 1928 on the site of an old brick and marl works. This stadium was home to independent greyhound racing and the Hanley Potters Speedway team until closure in 1963. The camera is looking across the stadium towards the wooden stand on the Mount Pleasant side. In the foreground are the racing floodlights and In the background is the bottle oven and buildings of the Dresden Works on Mount Pleasant. Dresden Works was operated by Lancaster and Sandland who manufactured earthenware at their Tinkersclough factory. Both the stadium and pottery have been demolished and the land used as a commercial and business park.
