Description:The west side of the Victoria Works (latterly Victoria & Trentham Pottery) from China Street in Fenton, on a snowy November day in 1962. This area of Fenton was once known as Lane Delph and the Victoria earthenware works dates from the end of the 1700s. It was occupied for a short time in the 1800s by the Mason family, later of ironstone fame and had number of owners before becoming the home of Victorian Porcelain (Fenton) Ltd in 1949 making willow pattern ware. It became Victoria & Trentham Potteries in 1957 producing bone china.

At the time of the photograph the works was partly derelict and the road, Meakins Row, host to a game of street football. Since demolished, the site is used for light industry and commerce.
