Description:J Steventon & Sons occupied a pottery in Steventon Place, just off Market Place in Burslem. They operated the Royal Pottery at the bottom of Steventon Place. Established as Brown & Steventon in 1897 and known as J Steventon & Sons from1923, the company latterly produced Royal Venton table ware.

The photograph shows the workshops and a bottle oven. In the bottom left hand corner of pottery waste (shraff) and just underneath the wooden steps is the entrance to the "Men's" toilet! The pottery has been demolished and the site is a mix of housing and commerce.
