Description:Earthenware over-glaze painted figure and undecorated figure . Height of tallest figure 210mm. Billy Waters (died 1823) was a beggar with a peg leg who earned a living playing a fiddle in London's West End. He became famous after being featured in an 1821 book, 'Tom & Jerry, Life in London'. The book was made into a successful opera. Billy Waters died in poverty in 1823. The fragmented figures were excavated at Burslem Town Hall, in 1938.
