Description:The back alleys between Forrister Street and Park Hall Street in Longton. The photograph was taken from Bridgwood Street (then Wharf Street) with Park Hall Street on the left and Forrister Street to the right. In the background, the taller buildings are on Anchor Road.

Most of the houses date from the 1880s and 1890s. In the back yards are the coal house, the outdoor toilet and possibly a wash house. The view today is very different, with bungalows each side with back gardens.
