Description:This is a view of the line of the bed of the Newcastle under Lyme Canal where it passes under Corporation Street in Stoke on Trent. The area immediately behind the camera is Yeaman Street park, and to the right, Empire Passage and London Road. The iron railing and parapets are still in place.

The Newcastle canal ran for four miles between the Trent & Mersey Canal in Stoke and Newcastle under Lyme. Opened in 1800, it was abandoned by 1935. The line has mostly filled in and built over.
