Description:Dudson Brothers' pottery works on the corner of Hanover Street (left) and York Street in Hanley. There has been a pottery on this site since the 1800s. Expanded greatly in the 1870s, the works consisted of a group of buildings around a central courtyard, with the main range and entrance on Hanover Street. The works only ever had one bottle oven, built in the 1850s, the top visible in the centre. This is now a grade II listed building and noted as being larger than most.
Production stopped here in 1980, with production moved to works in Burslem and Tunstall. The modified factory is now a museum, showing the 200 years of the Dudson family pottery. Dudson Brothers produced a variety of ware: china figures, jugs, tea and coffee pots, bowls and vitrified hotel ware for sale at home and abroad.
The two cars parked in Hanover Street appear to be late 1950s Ford Popular two door saloons.
