Description:The Longton skyline with St James' Church tower on the left and, less clear, St John's Church tower near the right edge. This photograph was taken looking westwards from Weston Coyney Road near Park Hall Colliery. It was said the area around St James' Church had the highest density of potworks in the city. The area to the left are ovens of potwoks in the Chelson Street area and to the right are, amongst others, Roslyn Works, Park Works the Gladstone Pottery, Portland, Garfield and Blue Bell Pottery.
The tall chimneys near St John's Church are works around Anchor Road. The open space in the foreground has been largely covered by housing developments.
