Date:1928

Description:A rainy day in Stoke in 1928. A tradesman's van is turning left from Glebe Street into Station Road and heading for Winton Square. The building on the right is in the Jacobean style and was designed by the architect H.A. Hunt. This design was adopted for most North Staffordshire Railway (The 'Knotty') buildings. To the left are Knotty wagon sheds and, out of view, a reservoir that served the steam engines.
Most of these buildings have now gone and the only remaining building today is the Roebuck Hotel seen here in the background.
