Description:This is a view looking eastwards from the car park of the Springfields Hotel (now The Orange Tree) towards the Springfields Schools. The A34 (Newcastle Road) runs across the photograph in the foreground. To the left is the County Infants School (behind the trees) and on the right, the County Junior School. Access to the schools was from Wheatly Aveune, which is behind the buildings. Both sets of buildings have been demolished.

The land is now the site of St John's Church of England Primary School. The school buildings are on the site of the old infants' school with the playing fields to the right.
