Description:The camera is looking north east up Harpfield Road from close to the junction with Newcastle Road (A34). The road curves round towards the roundabout at Keelings Drive, off the photograph. Flash Lane leads off to the right. These houses date from the 1920s when this part of the Stoke Lodge Estate was developed by the City Council.

The lad is riding a 1960s delivery bike, with the metal frame on the front to carry a wicker basket.
