Date:August 1964

Description:Looking along St Thomas' Place towards St Thomas's Church ion Penkhull. On the corner on the left is the Marquis of Granby public house. In the centre of the road junction is an unusually painted Police Call Box. Such call boxes were important means of communication in a time when the police didn't have personal radios and only a few houses had private telephones. Usually painted blue, the boxes were phased out in the 1970s.
