Description:Looking down the lower part of Penkhull New Road towards its junction with London road in Stoke. Behind the fence on the left is the site of W Kirkham's earthenware pottery now the site of Portmeirion Pottery. The houses on both sides date from the 1850s although those on the left have been demolished. At the bottom onn the corner is The Commercial Inn and across the road, Commercial Street, now Club Street. The floodlight pylons of Stoke City's Victoria Ground appear through the mist. To the left is one of the chimneys of Campbell's Tile works.
