Description:The houses inn the photograph are part of a terrace of five pairs of late Victorian houses just on the brow of Penkhull New Road. The photograph was taken from the corner of Sillitoe Place. Between each pair of houses is an alleyway with a door matching the front doors of the houses. On the houses is a tablet "Richmond Hill 1870 JA". In the 1871 census the houses are named Richmond Hill and occupied mainly by skilled pottery workers.
