Description:The rear of the ranges that made up part of the Falcon Works, operated by W H Goss, and H G Kirkham's Works which fronted onto London road in Stoke. Bert Bentley described this as " a difficult shot": perhaps he was trying to peer over a wall from Penkhull New Road from where the photograph was taken. The buildings closest to the camera were part of Kirkham's Works, now demolished and the site of Portmeirion Pottery following an amalgamation in1961. W H Goss moved to the Falcon Pottery in 1870, specialising in souvenir and commemorative ware. These three storey buildings date from around 1903. The works closed in 1944. The two ranges (warehouses and workshops) that made up the Falcon Works are grade II listed structures. Just behind Kirkham's Works are the tops of two updraught bottle ovens (glost kilns), also grade II listed structures.
