Description:St Thomas's Church from the south. The church stands in the middle of Penkhull, on the site of a school, and dates from the 1840s. Designed by George Gilbert Scott, shortage of money meant that it is a plainer church than its neighbour in Hartshill. The building of the first church in Penkhull owed much to the Minton family. It is a grade II listed building.
Beyond the church, opposite its west door, is The Greyhound Inn. The building has a long history as a courthouse, with a small part of the sixteenth century wooden structure preserved. It was largely rebuilt in the 1930s. Like the church, the building is grade II listed.
