Description:The camera is looking north east along Sheaf Street which runs parallel to Broad Street. At the bottom is Yates Street, and the photograph was taken from just outside the Wheatsheaf Hotel (off to the left). The chimney in the centre is on the site of Shelton Brewery which was at the top end of Sun Street. The Hanley skyline is in the distance with the roof of Victoria Hall on the left. The houses on Sheaf Street all date from the 1850s and both sides have been cleared.
